GETTING UNMARRIED

Ticking bio clocks
And talking aunts-
You must get married
By the end of March.
All that’s needed
Is to unlock the gandhis and hoarded gold,
And find a man who at this price
Is ready to be sold.

“Divorce is a dirt word-
Dare not dream.”
“Things will be fine.”
“Think of the child .“
“This is now your only home.”

But when you smell
A careless whiff of cooking gas,
When you feel the bubbling venom
Vying for your womb,
Its time to GET UNMARRIED child.
Pack up the grit and forgotten grain,
Leave back the grime and yellow pain
Shut the door, never to go back there, again.

  1. What a forceful poem you .have written . The argument is awsm, thought provoking, and soul stirring. Loved to read it. I read it again and again.
